Moving to wordpress
I’ve decided to move my blog to WordPress.
I have two reasons. First, the UTCS web server is fairly limited; I can’t use a database there or even use the web server to write to files. This pretty much rules out using off the shelf blog software and implementing features like comments. Second, WordPress does this for a living. My custom solution was workable enough for the most part, and it only suffered one major glitch (all my post dates were eaten when the filesystem changed). But there’s not really any value in using and maintaining my own solution.
I’m planning to considerably simplify my website soon. I probably won’t bother to save the old posts. But in the meantime, the old URL was here:
